Rapid KL, will you listen to the public's view?

I am a frequent traveller from Cyberjaya to Kuala Lumpur. I am disappointed with Rapid KL service during the peak hours.

The queue at both the Pasar Seni and Putrajaya/Cyberjaya stations are very long during these peak times. The buses are packed without any space to breath.

I am sure Rapid KL knows about this problem but no action has been seen to be taken by the management over the past few years on this issue. The reason given will always be that ‘we are short of buses during peak hours’.

This merely shows the management of Rapid KL is very weak. Please provide more E1 and 429 buses during the peak hours. The frequency of the buses during the peak hours should also be increased.

The second issue is the ticket price. Why have the ticket prices not gone down? When the petrol price went up, they use it as a reason to hike the bus fares.

But now we can see their true colour. They have even terminated the ‘Tiket Sepadu’ and ‘Tiket Semua’ concept. The reason given is poor public response. Right, blame the public when you yourself never aggressively promoted them.

The flat price of RM7 for ‘Tiket Sepadu’ is cost-saving for the public who wants to use public transport such as buses and trains for the whole day.

This unlimited travel feature concept is good. This same concept is there in other countries like the UK. Why it is successful there and not here?

The reason may be because the public may not be aware of this. The publicity is not wide enough. This concept will surely encourage more of the public to use public transport.

What is so difficult in just maintaining the product concept? Are other bus companies complaining about it?

Whatever it is, your action must always be in the interest of the public. The taxpayers’ money is involved in the running of Rapid KL.

So I urge Rapid KL to reintroduce both the ‘Tiket Sepadu’ and ‘Tiket Semua’ and also reduce ticket prices further in line with decreasing petrol price.

I think Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi should condemn Rapid KL for their irresponsible action.
