This is an open question to all in the Kementerian Dalam Negeri: What is the 'official' policy adopted towards Indonesian migrants and workers in Malaysia?
It is a widely accepted notion that Indonesians are able to get permanent residency status or even Malaysian citizenship much more easier than any other foreign nationals. Why is this so? Why is the government or the KDN in particular willing to accept uneducated Indonesians as permanent residents (PR) or warganegara Malaysia?
And if it is so easy for the Indonesians, why isn't this same treatment given to other foreign nationals such as Filipinos, Bangladeshis, Burmese and others?
There is no doubt that this liberal attitude of the government towards Indonesians has directly contributed to the increase of illegal Indonesian immigrants in our country. These Indonesians may be illegal immigrants today but don't be surprised when a few years from now they start flashing their 'true-blue' identity cards right in my face, or any other Malaysian for that matter, who encompasses the suffering smallholders of oil palm plantations right up to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and his loyal men in Cabinet.
The point is, that how can this happen? It is adding salt to the wound to loyal non-bumiputra Malaysians when these illegal immigrants eventually become bumiputra themselves.
Don't let petty racialism destroy Malaysia by accepting uneducated and uncultured Indonesians; the Malays in Malaysia are different from Malays in Indonesia, as are the Chinese and Indians in Malaysia from those all over the world.
Forgive me for my racialist perception but I do greatly believe that 'race' is the ultimate issue here.
I hold my Malaysian citizenship up high and close to my heart. Race is not important, nationalism is. Destroying the quality and sanctity of Malaysian citizenship is exactly what the government is doing when it welcomes Indonesians permanently with wide, open arms.
