Fake degrees – the PM is in a fix
LETTER | Whether a politician has a degree or not does not matter. It is the same as whether a cat is black or white or yellow or brown. It does not matter.
But what matters is the integrity of that politician. If a politician cannot be trusted, then all other attributes make no difference.
Voters do not care if he (or she ) has loads of experience, is a “big shot” or a “small shot”, has a lot of influence or not, is “loaded” or not, has a beautiful mansion or an equally beautiful wife or not.
Now, the prime minister is in a fix. Can he fix it? Or will he just brush it aside as a small issue? And what is worse is that the person is from his own party.
And he may not the only one. It seems that menteri besar in other states and a state assemblyman have now been hit by the same accusation of fake academic degrees.
Are all these allegations true or not? If true, what do you do? Just smile? No, smiling will not do. If they are not true, say so. Stand up and say so, all ye men of status!
Show proof; don't just keep quiet or just smile. The people are watching what action, if any, will be taken.
It is like a fire. The firemen should not stand and stare and see how far the fire will spread. He should put out the fire at once.
Doubt over integrity is just such a fire.
