I would like to offer my analysis of the decline in educational quality.
The problem I perceive is that our leaders and government are proud that we are being admired, praise or even emulated in many of our policies and approach. What they do not realise is that those praises come from mainly lesser developed countries, or third world countries.
These countries are starting to look overseas to learn from others to improve themselves. However, our leaders may feel that being an example to others, we are very great and need not seek further improvement.
However, once one is proud, one stops upgrading oneself and things will get messier by the day without regular tidying up. After few years of making progress, our country is now slipping backwards. This we see now happening in every aspect of the running of government departments and educational institutions.
One should never proud of oneself irrespective of whether we are praised by others. Both positive and negative comments should be taken as motivation and we should always improve ourselves continuously to greater heights.
Just look at Korea and Singapore. Both countries may experience startling different fates at one time or another but they are doing good in many aspects and keep on improving objectively every year.
