AP debate hitting too close to home for some
ADS

Just when we thought we were getting to the bottom of the AP mess and fiasco, we have Umno Information Chief Muhammad Muhammad Taib - Selangor's former menteri besar - asking all quarters to immediately stop harping on the issue and focus their attention on more important matters crucial for the interest of the people and the Malays.

He believes that the prolonged AP episode will not benefit the people and that it is a waste of time.

He asks, "Why must we dig into everything as if there is no other issue of more importance to deal with?" He continues to state that we should just address the complaints and that a prolonging of this pertinent issue would bring more harm.

I fail to find any credence or logic in his argument because this is a classic case where one sees the total and disgraceful abuse of the system to feed the political greed of parasites and other hangers-on.

I also fail to see any substance in the former MB's claim that 'feedback from the people showed that they were disgusted with the issue and regarded it as stale'. To me, this is untenable.

Just looks at all the front-page exposure of the AP issue recorded in the media. For an information chief, Muhd Taib seems to be sadly misinformed.

As for the 'clarification' by International Trade and Industry Minister Rafidah Aziz over the AP matter in Parliament on Tuesday, one must ask whether it was exhaustive and comprehensive?

I join the masses that believe no.

As far as I am concerned, if someone now wants to stop the debate it is because the truth hurts.

They want to stop the discussion for it reveals abuse and greed, it exposes the lack of accountability and of full blown corruption besides laying naked the myth that we have proper checks and balances to check corruption and abuse in high places.

Are these people really ready for accountability, transparency and good governance of the real kind?
