The Umno disciplinary board's statement that party vice-president Isa Samad is the only party bigwig who has to pay for his sins (money politics) is very disappointing to say the least.

Just when the public thinks that the prime minister is determined to wipe out money politics in Umno, the board has dampened the people's spirit by not going after the other big fish.

This has thus indirectly lent credibility to the fallen leader's statement earlier that he was made a sacrificial lamb in order to appease the public that Umno is serious in eradicating money politics - a scourge which has been the bane of every Umno election in recent times.

It is an open secret that leaders who had won big in the last Umno polls paid large sums of money to delegates in order to win votes. Isa Samad is not the only guilty party.

Others are equally guilty as well. It takes two hands to clap. As a Muslim, I cannot understand why these Umno delegates sold their souls to the Devil for a short-term gain.

Other questions which beg answers are the origin of funds used by Umno bigwigs to campaign and the use of government machinery and resources for party elections.

Umno should take a cue from PAS. In the latter's recent election, there were no allusions to vote-buying nor were there frenzied battles for top party posts. Those who won, won fairly, squarely and with dignity.

I am sure the public is a tad disappointed to see other tainted Umno leaders not being caught in the net for their abuse of power and money politics. It is all business as usual and Isa now appears to be the fall guy.

Hopefully, the rakyat can see the wool being pulled over they eyes - the wool of the sacrificial lamb led to slaughter just to please the crowd.
