American imperialism ultimately a paper tiger

The letter 'What's so bad about US hegemony? Well...' is referred.

Indeed, there are still some people all over the world who see the US through what its propaganda machine says and not what its military and security apparatus do in real life. One reason is that the American propaganda apparatus is so overwhelming and omnipotent is that ordinary people are just not aware that it is what it is.

Look at Iraq. According to US' propaganda machine, the war would be over in just a few months and after that, every Iraqis would come to their senses and accept the puppet government imposed by US' occupation forces. Now, the insurgency continues with American casualties reported every two or three days.

What the US right-wing does not understand is that although it unilaterally thinks the US is the best and most powerful country in the world, many people around the world just do not share that narcissistic self-assessment.

If we look at the US military records in Asia, it is also not as invincible as it believes itself to be. In the 1945-1949 Chinese Civil War, the US lost China after its Chinese Nationalist ally was routed by the People's Liberation Army.

In the 1950-1953 Korean War, the US and its allies, despite their overwhelming firepower, could only reach a truce with the alliance of the Soviet Union, China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Although General Douglas McArthur proclaimed 'roll-back' as its strategy, US forces had to finally retreat into South Korea and accept the division of the Korean Peninsula.

Needless to say, the US was soundly defeated in Vietnam in 1975 after ten years of protracted war with a seemingly much weaker guerrilla force inspired by Ho Chi Minh. Also, despite its many attempts to subjugate Cuba since 1950s, Fidel Castro is still alive and kicking.

The US is only invincible in the enfeebled minds of those who have not liberated their own souls from inferiority complexes and Stockholm syndrome caused by prolonged Western domination and its omnipotent propaganda.

With strong minds like Mao Zedong, Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro, American imperialism is ultimately a paper tiger. The Iraqi insurgents are now - again - proving it in the Middle East.
