Ahmad Said, please grow up
ADS

The former menteri besar of Terengganu, Ahmad Said, is the epitome of allegedly bankrupt politicians found aplenty in this country.

His constant whining, sulking and threatening represent nothing other than his lost position. There is nothing altruistic in his rants, nothing of public interests in his fight and nothing of substance in his threats. He is merely barking after being thrown off the gravy train and now desperately trying to get back on.

It is time for him to accept reality. There was no public outrage when he was thrown out. There was hardly a single state assemblyperson who was willing to stand by him (maybe there was one, I am not too sure now). There were no policy or performance differences. The train is still travelling at the same speed and carrying the same load, but only with a different driver.

From the Terengganu Investment Authority (TIA) to 1MDB, he threatened and is still threatening to reveal tonnes of secrets after he was sacked. What does this tell us? There is nothing ethical or right and wrong about secrets. Secrets are just self-preservation tools to be unleashed when circumstances and timing are right. It has nothing to do with disclosing wrongdoings, nothing to do with protecting public interests and nothing do with bringing the wrongdoers to justice.

By implication, if his position is restored, all incriminating and dirty secrets are his to keep. I think his self-centredness is boundless; he thinks we the people are fools to be easily manipulated by his empty threats and shameless sulks.

I heard another political party in the state is ever willing to welcome him to pave the change in the state government. Why not, by all means they should do it quickly. After all, the ‘new’ state government would make no difference in terms of governance or the interests of the rakyat. It is all about changing the passengers on the gravy train.
