Dangerous conditions of the Pan-Borneo Highway
ADS

The RM27 billion Pan-Borneo Highway - which stretches 1,633km in Sarawak and Sabah - is expected to benefit, and will stimulate economic development for both states. The highway is expected to be completed in 2025.

However, the highway roads are still not in a good condition and there are many potholes along the uneven roads.

Recently, we have received complaints from motorists who said that there is a large hole which caused their tyres to burst, rims bent out of shape, and thus can no longer be used due to bumping into the hole.

It is located at the Rh Dingan Ak Janang (from Sibu) road junction with SK Kuala Anau (Tatau) and needs to be repaired immediately.

They were very upset because none of the parties responsible for repairing and filling holes in the damaged road, have done anything about the matter.

The government and those responsible for managing the highway must always monitor the condition of the roads, especially the ones routinely used by people.

Uneven roads and potholes can cause accidents to road users - especially during heavy rains and at night, when it is difficult for them to watch out for the poor road conditions.

We urge the government to immediately repair the severe road conditions along the Pan-Borneo Highway, because if this condition is not treated properly, it can be life-threatening to road users.

Furthermore, each road should have light reflectors installed to facilitate road users to see well at night and when it rains.

Immediate cooperation with the government and those concerned to repair the roads for the safety of road users, is greatly appreciated.
