There is one place - which the public has forgotten - apart from the Kamunting detention centre where tortures exists. This is at the psychiatric wards and mental asylums at Tampoi and Tanjung Rambutan.

I have myself witnessed torture where patients were tied to beds for just being disobedient. Of course, the hospital staff gave the excuse that it was to prevent them from hurting themselves.

Because of their mental condition, many of the patients in asylums can't tell the public about their torture, unlike prisoners in other places. Sometimes we were denied food just because we failed to line up in 10 seconds! And then staff ordered us to finish our food in 10 minutes. I wonder who should be in the asylum in this case?

I had been sent there by doctors because I was accused of sexually assaulting a woman. I denied this charge and challenged the police to charge me in court. Instead, I was sent to the asylum.

In the name of God, I witnessed many incidents of torture without provocation but I don't have the photos to prove it. And what did the hospital administration say when they heard my stories?

They said it was just my imagination as I was paranoid and under medication.
