This year, the National Human Capital Conference and Exhibition 2023 (NHCCE 2023), HRD Corp’s flagship event took a holistic approach to human capital and business development through a brand-new theme complemented by fresh discussion pillars and exciting topics.

Capitalise on the limitless opportunities available within the Future of Work

The theme, ‘Pioneering Growth, Inspiring Change’ is a universal call to action for all HR practitioners C-Suite and industry leaders to transform their current approaches to human capital development.

Blueprint to the Future: Leading in a New World of Work

In an engaging, insight-filled, and actionable presentation, a globally recognised thought leader, bestselling author, and speaker, Eric Termuende brought a fresh perspective to workplace culture and the future of work at the NHCEE 2023 opening ceremony.

Apart from sharing his research-backed blueprint for successful leadership in a world that has yet to be created, he also left the audience with actionable insights, memorable stories and a refreshing take on the future of work.

“Based on the work that I have done for the past few years, I have learned that the future is really hard to predict and one of the questions that many would ask is what would the future of work look like?”

“Instead of trying to predict what’s next, we need to better understand the specific steps we need to take to focus on building incredible teams that thrive in the face of adversity and uncertainty, and have each other’s backs along the way,” said Eric.

Human Capital Development is Paramount

In an interview, Eric said that the NHCEE 2023 conference is important as organisations in Malaysia and Southeast Asia contend with multiple disruptions shaping workplace dynamics.

“Everything that HRD Corp put into place was designed to ensure a holistic look at human capital development and potentially revolutionary changes that industry players can adopt and I am truly grateful to be a part of this immersive event,” he said.

Focusing on Your People

To thrive, your organisation must take a human approach to rethinking and rebuilding work to prioritise people above all else. Below are the 3 steps that Eric shared to create an incredible team at work:

1) Build a deep sense of trust

2) Isolate and remove friction

3) Create a culture of experimentation

Making a One-Degree shift

Often we think that success comes from sweeping change and lofty targets, when really it is the ability to remove friction and constantly learn, grow, and pivot that truly helps us realise and reframe what success looks like.

“With the future being impossible to predict, the idea of a one-degree shift has never been more important. The need to evaluate our success, try new things, and understand if yesterday’s goal is today’s goal too, is key. And when it comes to our team, if we can truly understand what sets us apart, our ability to attract and keep top talent will be easier than it has ever been before,” he explained.

“At the end of the conference, I look forward to giving the people the tools, knowledge and the actions that they can take to build a great team and make them feel excited to thrive in their future of work,” he concluded.
