Beyond the fireworks.
Beyond the decorations and lion dances.
Even beyond the tossing of Yee Sang.
At its heart, Chinese New Year reminds us to return to what really anchors us: shared moments, stories and heritage.
From 28 February to 1 March 2026, families gathered at Elina Resort Homes @ Senai in Taman Putra Perdana, Puchong, not just to celebrate the festive season, but to rediscover the values that give it meaning.
The Spring festival has long symbolised gratitude and continuity. Traditionally associated with reunion dinners, ancestral prayers, festive visits and communal gatherings, it marks a period in the Chinese lunar calendar when families and communities come together.
At Elina Resort Homes @ Senai by Selangor Dredging Berhad (SDB), this Year of the Horse was brought to life in a way that felt intimate and inter-generational. Unlike conventional festive events that often focus on spectacles, SDB’s ‘𝐋𝐞𝐭’𝐬 𝐆𝐨! 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐍𝐘 𝐁𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐚𝐫’ gathering was designed with one clear intention: to place family at the centre. The programmes were thoughtfully curated in collaboration with Hongjiejie Work Station and The Hour Lilies Project, both known for their work in meaningful community engagement.

The CNY Bazaar encouraged something that is increasingly rare or absent in modern life: undivided attention. With a hive of activities unfolding from 10am till 8pm, something remarkable happened - no attention was divided between conversations and screens.
Children moved eagerly ‘akin on a mission’ between activity stations. Parents participated alongside them in hands-on workshops and family games. Grandparents lingered over performances that evoked memories of earlier decades. There were no fragmented interactions, only real presence. Families interacted with one another without distraction, laughter flowed and moments were experienced fully rather than filtered through devices.
A memorable highlight of the two-day celebration was a live Chinese orchestra performance. Rather than featuring familiar festive tunes, the orchestra presented traditional dialect music, with compositions rooted in heritage and layered with cultural meaning. For many elderly attendees, the melodies were deeply nostalgic, carrying echoes of earlier times and places.
Equally significant was the sight of younger children seated with curiosity, absorbing sounds that may have been unfamiliar to them. Introducing children to traditional art forms during their formative years can have a lasting impact, instilling a sense of identity and, in turn, giving them confidence in their future. Such exposure is not merely entertainment - it is the preservation of tradition.
There is a simple truth often expressed in a Chinese phrase: Having a roof over one’s head represents security and stability. Yet a house alone does not create belonging. A house is merely a structure; but a home is an emotional sanctuary. As a long-established boutique property developer, SDB understands that while the bricks and mortar create the house, it is traditions and family values that can bring vitality to a home.
At Senai, Elina’s multi-generational resort homes have the perfect design and a natural lakeside surrounding to accommodate extended family living, because it provides the perfect setting for traditions to be preserved and renewed.
During the two-day CNY Bazaar, families connected through interactive games and creative activities that encouraged conversation and cooperation. Parents guided their children, grandparents shared the traditions behind cultural performances, and even strangers found common ground in easy conversation. These moments may appear simple, yet they are deeply formative - strengthening relationships, passing on values and shaping a shared understanding of togetherness.
Collectively, they reflect SDB’s philosophy that true value lies beyond physical structures; but in creating spaces where meaningful connections are nurtured and communities can grow organically.

Chinese New Year is ultimately about togetherness and continuity - the threads that connect family and community across generations. SDB’s CNY Bazaar reflected this spirit. It showed that family and community do not happen by chance; they come and grow together through shared spaces, activities and experiences.
By celebrating Chinese New Year together, visitors to Elina Resort Homes @ Senai strengthen the bonds that keep traditions alive.
