Experience the future of digital Malaysia—live and in motion. From Sept 17 to 19, 2025, the highly anticipated Malaysia Digital Xceleration (MDX) Summit and the inaugural SmartGov Malaysia will take centre stage at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, bringing together policymakers, tech innovators, and global thought leaders under one roof.
Jointly organised by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and National Digital Department (JDN), in strategic partnership with Synapze Sdn Bhd, a company specialising in virtual and hybrid event management, both events will serve as premier national platforms to accelerate digital transformation and highlight Malaysia’s growing influence in the ASEAN digital economy. With Malaysiakini and Digital News Asia on board as the official media partners, the events are set to drive greater public engagement around the country’s digital future.
Now in its third edition, the MDX Summit will focus on five key areas: Next-Gen Data, Next-Gen Computing, Next-Gen Trust, Next-Gen Creativity, and Next-Gen Talent, highlighting how innovation is being applied across industries and public services to benefit businesses, communities, and the broader region.
Elevating Digital Leadership in ASEAN

“MDX 2025 will further catalyse Malaysia’s digital leadership in ASEAN by nurturing innovation, attracting investment, and promoting inclusive digital growth,” said Anuar Fariz Fadzil, Chief Executive Officer of MDEC.
“Technologies built on digital assets and agents will drive meaningful outcomes through talent development, innovation, and responsible AI, leading to smarter services for all.”
Synapze managing director Andrew Tai shared that the summit will also welcome renowned international experts such as Dr Keyu Jin, Professor at the London School of Economics and author of The New China Playbook, and Gerard Grech, Managing Director at Founders by the University of Cambridge and founding CEO of Tech Nation UK. Adding to the line-up, Minister of Digital YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo will also participate in the fireside chat, bringing his insights on Malaysia’s digital future.
Running alongside the summit is SmartGov Malaysia 2025, themed “GovTech for the Future – Innovating Public Service Delivery.” This event aims to strengthen the country’s digital governance framework and accelerate the adoption of innovative technologies in the public sector. It will spotlight three core pillars: AI for citizen-centric services; Big Data for trust and transparency and Cloud Computing for agile, resilient service delivery.

SmartGov 2025 will reflect Malaysia’s vision for a secure, inclusive, and forward-thinking public sector. From AI-powered citizen chatbots to cybersecurity partnerships, the focus will be on building digital trust while delivering better services, said Ts Nik Zalbiha binti Nik Mat, director- general of JDN.
Both MDX Summit and SmartGov 2025 will feature live tech showcases, high-level roundtables, and cross-sector networking opportunities. A unified exhibition space will bring together public and private sector players, fostering impactful collaborations that extend beyond the summit.
