In a reminder to Malaysians that the Covid-19 pandemic is here to stay for the foreseeable future, Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Malaysia today delivered RM150,000 worth of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Polis DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM).

JTI Managing Director Cormac O’Rourke who presented JTI’s contribution to the Inspector General of Police, Yang Dihormati Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador in a simple handover ceremony at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman, said that he hoped the company’s humble contributions would go a long way in protecting police frontliners who dedicate their lives everyday to help maintain law and order during these unprecedented economic and social challenges.

Yang Dihormati Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador meanwhile thanked JTI for the timely contribution and also took the opportunity to urge Malaysians not to take the ongoing Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) for granted as the country is now experiencing pockets of new Covid-19 clusters.

“We believe in inclusivity and shared responsibility by being able to contribute and continue extending support that will benefit our communities. We sincerely hope that Malaysians will continue practicing physical distancing and mask-wearing and together defeat any chance of another Covid-19 wave in the country,” Cormac added.
