Ibrahim, we’ll call you ‘katak’ until you repent
ADS

YOURSAY ‘We really need this katak around to give us some good laugh.

Stop calling me 'katak', Ibrahim pleads

D ont Just Talk: What do you label an unprincipled politician who ‘lompat’ (leap) from PAS after winning the MP Pasir Mas seat in 2008 to become an Independent but BN friendly representative, when he should have resigned and re-contested the seat.

It bears similarities to the Kulim-Bandar Baharu ‘katak’, who contested under PKR ticket. We learn in biology that ‘katak’ croak a lot, making them not only notoriously noisy but a nuisance to others.

Justine Gow: According to Wikipedia , "Frogs feature prominently in folklore, fairy tales, and popular culture. They tend to be portrayed as benign, ugly, and clumsy, but with hidden talents."

If this portrayal of frogs reflects reality, Ibrahim Ali should be pleased to be called "katak". He frequently makes remarks of an extremist nature.

But his croaking may turn out to be not malignant after all, as more and more Malaysians begin to see it for just what it is, that is, just a deep hoarse but perhaps mildly irritating sound.

I wouldn't say that he is handsome by any standard. Judging by the negative comments on him posted in Malaysiakini , I would think that he is not adept in interpersonal skills.

But then he must have some talents hidden somewhere - otherwise how do we explain why he is so news worthy?

Malaysia Ku: Soon-to-be included in the Oxford Dictionary, the etymology for the word "katak", defined as "a short, fat, humanoid with amphibian-like facial features, with ostentatious inclinations for higher political causes emanating from a fetid pool of waste".

MA: Ibrahim Ali, I promise not to call you "katak" if you promise not to do these things in future:

1) Recognise that all Malaysians of every race and religion have contributed to Malaysia (not one particular race alone).

2) Show respect to the handicap - you told wheelchair-bound Karpal Singh (RIP) to stand up in Parliament.

3) Stop talking about "Christianisation of Malaysia".

Chin_2e46: Ibrahim Ali, I notice that of late you seem to have displayed a more reflective frame of mind.

In view of this, please reflect upon this: there is no threat to Islam or the Malay race from the non-Muslims and non-Malays in this country of ours. The latter group is overwhelmingly outnumbered in every field and in every way by our Muslim/Malay brethren.

The only thing that they can do is to complain, and to hope and pray that unlike you and your delusional sympathisers, the vast majority of true Muslims and decent Malays in this fair country of ours will show you how wrong you are.

Yes, the non-Malays and non-Muslims are no threat unless you view their hard work and their determination to survive against all odds as a threat.

If at all they are fighting anybody, they are fighting against the very same injustices that you are fighting. Please think about that.

Rajakera: Dear ‘katak’, you are wrongly comparing yourself with people who have been doing some good and to those who are trying to save Malaysia and make it a better country. You, on the other hand, claim yourself to be a hero when you are not.

No other word can better describe you than "katak", so be happy that you are one and also be happy that it is not something worse.

And do not try to compare yourself with others. They are better than you.

Ipohcrite: Perkasa's Ibrahim Ali now wants respect, to be correctly labelled not as "katak" but as he deems fit, does he? Well, I have news for him.

Whilst Bersih and other right-minded NGOs demonstrate or rally, it is to promote a worthy cause or to oppose wrongdoing by the government.

Whereas Perkasa seems solely bent on creating animosity among the races and condemns the Pakatan Rakyat coalition at every turn, for the sake of gaining political mileage for and ingratiating itself to Umno.

And since it hasn't discarded its political and racist leanings, why shouldn't the rakyat think badly of it? Go earn the label you so relish, not demand it.

Unafraid: We don't simply label people but we will certainly call a spade a spade. If Ibrahim is nicknamed a frog by the rakyat, then there must be some truth in it.

He has been unreasonably racist and radical in his comments about the Christians and the Chinese even went to the extent of calling for the burning of the Bible. He has incurred the wrath and disgust from a lot of moderate Malaysians by his senseless remarks.

No right-thinking Malaysians respect him. He is scoffed at and really nobody in their right mind takes him seriously. He deserves to be called ‘katak’.

MA: Also, since the flavour of the month is "giving a second chance", maybe this ‘katak’ is seeking just that. Pity him.
