PAS roasts PKR over pop star

The PAS muktamar continued its attacks against PKR with a Shah Alam delegate citing the PKR-led Selangor government's failure to block a concert by pop star Selena Gomez as justification on why PAS should cut ties with PKR.

PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said if PAS decides to sever ties with PKR, then it should relinquish its state executive council positions in the Selangor government.

However, newly-minted PAS Youth chief Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi insisted that the PAS exco members should not resign, stating that they were only answerable to the people, not to PKR.

Non-Muslim PM

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng accused PAS of trying to create religious tension by proposing that the prime minister must be Muslim, adding that there was no non-Muslim seeking the country’s no 1 post.

PAS deputy spiritual leader Ahmad Yaakob declared that liberal Muslims were a threat to Islam, and vowed to wipe them out.

Meanwhile, former PAS Youth chief Nik Mohamed Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz lamented that democracy in PAS was eroding due to the lack of candidates contesting in the party election to be held today.

'Najib not a public officer'

The High Court in Kuala Lumpur, in striking out the lawsuit against the prime minister for alleged malfeasance, ruled that Najib Abdul Razak is not a public official.

PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim claimed the government was trying to use his statement against former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the forex scandal.

Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua said the auditor-general and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) should take another look at the 1MDB scandal following a settlement between 1MDB and Abu Dhabi’s International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC).

US prosecutors are reportedly looking at the relationship and accounts flows of a key banker who helped arranged three bond sales for 1MDB.
