PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has ticked off the Western world for declaring the death of democracy in Turkey, yet ignoring the developments in Malaysia.
"From the Malaysian perspective, criticisms of Turkey's democratic efforts are troubling given the general ambivalence of Western democracies towards Malaysia's own decades-long battle against the ruling party's kleptocracy, media control and blatant electoral manipulation," she said in a statement today.
She was referring to the international criticism after Turks voted in favour to expand Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan's powers in a referendum that would shift the country from a parliamentary democracy to an executive presidency...
