‘Najib as 1MDB suspect’ poser

Finance Minister II Johari Abdul Ghani and DAP’s Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo hurled insults across the Dewan Rakyat when Johari refused to reply to Gobind on whether Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak was a suspect in 1MDB investigations.

Johari also told DAP’s Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua to stop flogging the 1MDB issue, after Pua urged him to declassify the auditor-general’s report on 1MDB if nothing was wrong with the state investment firm.

He assured Pua that the government will ensure any fallout from the 1MDB issue is minimised.

Meanwhile, in a written parliamentary reply, Najib said Deloitte wants to quit as auditor for former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International, which was also embroiled in the 1MDB scandal.

Harapan welcomes Bersatu

Opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan welcomed Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) into its fold, and will consider a new logo. However, it was mum on Bersatu’s proposal for a new coalition name.

Meanwhile, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali said relations between PKR and PAS continues despite Permatang Pauh PAS cutting ties with PKR.

PAS vice-president Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the party will decide if it will continue to have a political pact with PKR at its muktamar next month.

On a related matter, PAS Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, who suffered a crushing defeat in the Pengkalan Chepa PAS division election, said he contested for fun.
