Hadi’s warning for Bersatu

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang warned that his party’s relationship with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) will come to an end if it joins Pakatan Harapan.

Hadi also denied that PAS was seeking to rule five states and leave the rest to Umno after a video of him saying this emerged.

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the government will take over the proposed amendments to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 from PAS despite objections from BN partners.

Sarawak BN reiterated its concerns about the amendment, stating that it could lead to discriminatory punishments between Muslims and non-Muslims.

PAS Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz was defeated in the PAS division election for Pengkalan Chepa.

Najib claims RM31b sabotage

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak claimed that Saudi Aramco’s RM31 billion investment in Malaysia almost did not go through due to wrong information that were provided by those who were unpatriotic.

MIC treasurer-general S Vell Paari said the alleged sabotage of the Aramco deal was an act of treason and want those responsible arrested.

DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang asked if the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission will follow in the footsteps of Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission by requiring all public officials to declare the luxurious gifts the Saudi Arabia entourage showered on them during King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud’s visit.

Bar rejects bid to ban booze

The Malaysian Bar overwhelmingly voted against a motion to ban liquor at its functions.

Outgoing Chief Justice Arifin Zakaria said he was open to taking up positions in the public or private sector after his retirement.
