Nazri is all set for debate

A confident Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said he did not need to prepare for his debate with former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, stating that he was ready to answer all questions.

Nazri also stressed that the debate would not be cancelled despite speculation that Umno may force him to abort it.

Perak acting police chief Hasnan Hassan said organisers had yet to receive approval to hold the debate at Kuala Kangsar Mara Junior College.

Johari says gov't can't press charges over 1MDB

Finance Minister II Johari Abdul Ghani said Malaysia could not press charges over the 1MDB scandal without having a “full picture” of the alleged wrongdoings.

Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua slammed Johari's justification that the government did not take over RM3.2 billion in debt from 1MDB by claiming that they were operating debts of separate companies even though they were subsidiaries of 1MDB.

Courting Bersatu

Jailed de facto PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim, in a note released through his party, expressed confidence that if Bersatu formally joins Pakatan Harapan, it would bolster the coalition.

Former minister Zaid Ibrahim urged Anwar to name an interim prime minister candidate, citing concerns about the opposition's cohesion and leadership.

Johor Amanah poured cold water on PAS' influence in the state and its claim that Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin would need the Islamic party's support to defend his Pagoh constituency at the next general election.
