Johor exco freed on bail

Johor exco member Abd Latif Bandi was freed on a RM200,000 bail after a seven-day remand over a graft probe into the conversion of bumiputera status property for kickbacks.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak claimed Saudi Arabia King Salman Abdulaziz Al-Saud’s visit to Malaysia was a recognition and debunked claims that the country was going bankrupt.

Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said he will debate former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad as a representative of Padang Rengas in defence of the prime minister.

PKR’s Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar said the opposition have to debate with Nazri because the prime minister dodges them.

Finance Minister II Johari Abdul Ghani rebutted DAP’s Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua’s claim that Putrajaya had bailed out 1MDB by taking over its debts.

Lip Eng retracts ‘pondan’ comment

Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng retracted his statement against Ketereh MP Annuar Musa, which included calling the latter “pondan” and “chicken s***”.

Lim’s DAP colleagues including Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching and Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun had also criticised him for the remarks.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak commended Lim for the retraction.

PAS ulama information chief Khairuddin Aman Razali reminded Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president Muhyiddin Yassin that the latter will need PAS’ support in his constituency of Pagoh in the next general election.

MCA vice-president Chew Mei Fun criticised PAS proposal implement caning as punishment for out-of-wedlock pregnancies, stating that it would encourage baby dumping.

Opposition leader Wan Azizah Wan Ismail asked the Election Commission to clarify who were the two Yang di-Pertuan Agong-appointed advisers it consulted for the redelineation as required by the Federal Constitution.

Penang CM dragged into Permata row

Damansara Utama state assemblyperson Yeo Bee Yin said the prime minister’s wife Rosmah Mansor should stop playing victim and quit as Permata patron.

Rosmah’s aide Rizal Mansor shot back, dragging Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng into the argument.

Lim asked that he not be compared with Rosmah.
