Johor exco arrested

Johor exco Abd Latif Bandi was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over a graft case involving the conversion of bumiputera land titles.

The MACC also raided his home, confiscating 150 handbags, RM42,000 in cash and a Toyota Vellfire.

Former rural and regional development minister Mohd Shafie Apdal fingered the Finance Ministry over the graft scandal involving water infrastructure in Sabah.

Two M'sians allowed to leave N Korea

Two out of 11 Malaysians who were barred from leaving North Korea were allowed to leave the country as they held United Nations travel documents.

A motion in Parliament to discuss the diplomatic row with North Korea following the murder of Kim Jong-nam on Malaysian soil was rejected on security grounds.

US assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel praised Malaysia's handling of the issue, including the investigation into Jong-nam's murder.

However, former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad criticised Putrajaya's inexperience in handling the issue.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng urged unity amid the crisis, stating that a review of the government's conduct can come later as priority lies with the Malaysians who are still stranded in North Korea.

Redelineation moves ahead without S'gor

Bersih cries foul at the Election Commission's move to publish the updated redelineation proposal in the gazette without Selangor, claiming that it was unconstitutional.

The EC cannot proceed in Selangor as the state government had taken the matter to court.

In a related development, the Kuala Lumpur High Court denied the Selangor government's bid to cross-examine Election Commission chief Hashim Abdullah before proceeding with a judicial review of the redelineation process in the state.

Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali says the state government may file a fresh legal challenge against the EC to stop it from proceeding with the redelineation process without Selangor.
