Amanah Youth chief Mohd Sany Hamzan has lodged a police report over an SMS challenging the police to a bloodbath, which purportedly came from his phone number.

In his police report, Sany said he became aware of the SMS, when a friend passed him a screenshot of the message this morning.

The Malay-language SMS dated yesterday afternoon reads, “Police please arrest us! We students are not afraid. Let there be a bloodbath, we will fight the police.”

The screenshot also shows Sany’s phone number as the message’s sender.

The timing of the SMS coincided with the student-led TangkapMO1 rally in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, which drew some 2,000 peaceful protesters to the streets.

The police had said that the rally is illegal.

In his report, Sany expressed concern over his safety.

Sany added he had been receiving calls from strangers.

“The purpose of my report is because I am concerned about my personal safety, since irresponsible parties have hacked my phone number and have made it viral.

“I am making this report to refer the matter to the police for further investigation, because I keep receiving phone calls from people I don’t know,” he said.
