Former second finance minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah is expected to keep himself busy after quitting the government on Monday – and he plans to learn Arabic.

According to a Sinar Harian report today, Husni is set to leave for Jordan, but he did not say when.

"I have planned to go to the country for three months to learn Arabic and Quranic studies and memorisation," he is quoted as saying.

However, Husni is still expected to host his annual Hari Raya open house, on the second day of Hari Raya, at his residence in Sungai Rokam, Perak.

"The open house to meet with the rakyat will go on as usual, even though I am aware that I will face all kinds of responses about my withdrawal from the cabinet.

"We'll just enjoy," Husni is quoted as saying.

However, he did not comment on the reasons for his sudden resignations from the government and from his posts in Umno.

On Monday, Husni announced his resignation from the cabinet, as well as from all party positions.

This includes his positions as Tambun Umno division chief, Tambun BN chairperson, Perak Umno deputy chief, Perak BN deputy chairperson, Umno treasurer and BN treasurer.
