'Students in Britain set shining example'
ADS

YOURSAY ‘You have shown a shining example for our youth back home.’

Kim Quek: It is heartening to see our students in UK having such high spirits and determination to put in their share of sacrifice and hard work for the cause of their mother country. You have shown a shining example of patriotism for our youth back home and for other overseas students to emulate.

Our voices in Malaysia are stifled by the mainstream media, so we need our compatriots overseas to help publicise our struggles to the world. Your demonstration at the Malaysian High Commission in London is indeed a boon to the current campaign to dump the colonial Sedition Act, which is now shamelessly used to colonise our own people. Do keep close tabs on affairs back home, and continue your active support to our cause of reform.

Mushiro: Congratulations to our young students for raising this awareness in the UK, braving the weather, distance, cost and fear. A wrong is a wrong and has to be raised. A march in London or any of the big cities will give an impact to their cause in Malaysia. More students should join.

CQ Muar: Highly emotional and honourable, all you guys who made it to London to voice against the Sedition Act. Despite the chilly and freezing weather you have already demonstrated qualities of leadership over what's happening back home in Malaysia. Precisely this has been our hope and aspirations that the younger generations of all races will return soon to this beleaguered nation ruled by the corruptible and rotten government.

The spirits are high back home, and our hopes have been rekindled for such indomitable spirit and sacrifice. Hats off to you all in UK despite all odds and risks. All said and done, we eagerly look forward and await your return to lead the nation soon. As for students Safwa and Yolanda Augustin, do keep the beacon burning bright - welcome home soon.

Negarawan: More international awareness of the abuse of human/religious rights and corruption in Malaysia is needed. Just look at how ignorant the UN is about what is happening in Malaysia.

Snake-in-the-grass: No need to make noise in London lah, nobody cares for you. Come back and make more noise later when you're finished with studies, okay? Power to the young!

Huan Tui Tong: Snake-in-the-grass, it’s a very good Idea that those young people made their point to shame our government this way. I hope more students from other countries like USA, Switzerland and so on do the same way what these London students did. If not, our thick face shameless government will not listen to its people.

We, back home, try to make the noise softly and gently but they don't even give a damn. Bravo to all the students in London. Those from other countries should follow so that whenever our government goes oversea, they will have to face a lot of questioning and answering.

Zen: The Malaysian students involved are making fool of themselves. They should use their effort to protest against the British Law there since they are unfairly subjected to the British law where sedition by an alien is still an offence in the UK. They thought they are smart but they are really making fools of themselves. The Londoners must be laughing at their stupidity.

Touche: Kudos to all. Thanks for fighting to abolish the Sedition Act. Study well and come back and fight for justice.

Amidst 'doping scandal', Chong Wei fetes birthday

Mushiro: UPSR exams failed the 'dope' test. So also our judiciary, universities ranking, crime rate, corruption index, financial mismanagement according to the Auditor-General’s Report - all failed the dope test miserably. When the government fails the dope test, what do we expect from badminton and other areas.

Fair Play: As the saying goes, 'there is no smoke without fire'. In any case, Lee Chong Wei is already past his prime and might retire sooner rather than later.

Snake-in-the-grass: Same as Umno which has not passed a single dope test since its formation. These days they have stronger and state-of-the-art doping agents like Perkasa, Isma, etc, guaranteed to prop it up when it's falling.

Swipenter: I am cynical that all world class athletes are 100 percent clean all the time. How much punishment and endurance can a world class body take on its own without outside "help". Just observe some of the physiques of female world class athletes (less obvious in men), and you wonder can they build that kind of muscles naturally through just training alone? By the way, snake- in- the- grass, I like your perception very much. Laugh out loud (LOL)!

Negarawan: Let the proper investigations be completed before anyone jumps to conclusions.

FutureMalaysians: There is no excuse for using any drug for sports. It only brings shame. Alternatively, why should we pressure a sportsman to bring fame to the nation that results in using drugs?

Man on the Street: Big letdown to all the sponsorships and a bad image to badminton! Time to throw away all the selfies taken with this athlete!

IQ900: Fail means fail! Every athlete is subjected to this international standard of dope testing, why is Lee so special that the international dope testing is dubious when a Malaysian athlete is tested positive? Lee is not immune.

MA: If it's true, he should be stripped off his datukship and all the amenities he gets from sponsors and the government. A cheat is a cheat and your pictures on the billboards only bring more shame, and a bad example to the young.

Just a couple of days ago, he mentioned that he was offered bribes but refused them. I wonder now? Why did he not spill the beans (about the bribing) earlier, only now when the whole world is aware about bribing in the badminton arena?

Axolotl: Too ambitious lor. Do anything to win win win. In the end you lose everything and become a warning to others. Who asked you to hobnob with the archcriminals in Putrajaya - very negative influence!

FLOM: When the government fails, everything fails except cronies' pockets.
