Nasrudin's intellectual bankruptcy of arguments

YOURSAY ‘Get Saifuddin back in Parliament. He is far better even he’s in Umno....’

Nasrudin: DAP, PKR lost more votes in by-elections

Kim Quek: Has it ever occurred to Nasrudin Hassan that DAP’s dramatic electoral setback in Teluk Intan was due to a betrayal by PAS? In that by-election, DAP’s Chinese support had dwindled from 85% to 70%, while Gerakan’s had doubled from 15% to 30% (according to an analysis by Ong Kian Ming).

There is not the slightest doubt that the only plausible explanation for such drastic swing in Chinese sentiment is the hudud issue.

PAS relentless push for the implementation of hudud in Parliament is a betrayal of Pakatan Rakyat’s common platform and manifesto and PAS’ motto of a welfare state in place of an Islamic state prior to GE13, and for such a betrayal to take place so soon after the general election, it had shocked and infuriated the Chinese, who abhor religious intervention against their way of life above all other evils.

In fact, that hudud issue alone is enough to cause the Chinese to lose their faith in PAS, and with the recent Selangor MB issue betrayal, such repudiation against PAS is now complete.

Fair Play: I often wonder why most PAS leaders could not think, plan and execute using their head. Instead of looking at a problem to ascertain its root cause, they take consolation in pointing out that PKR and DAP didn't do any better.

The fatal flaw in Nasrudin's argument (because he used his heart instead of his head) in that he omitted to state the glaring fact that PAS lost to Umno in a seat comprising 95% Muslim Malaysians.

If PAS doesn't represent Muslim Malaysians who, then, are they representing? Now, would DAP lose in a seat with say, 60% Chinese Malaysians in an urban seat?

Quigonbond: It's not the percentage of drop that matters; it's the majority vote disparity. All the by-elections have been carried out during work days, i.e. lower turnout = better results for BN.

The challenge is to win despite the lower turnout, and even if one loses, to lose with a small vote difference. A small vote difference means in GE14, when people do flock back to vote, the current loser is sure to win.

For DAP - the vote difference between Mah Siew Keong and Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud was very close. In three years, Mah will be soundly defeated. The numbers may look right, but it's not the full picture. PAS should stop kidding itself.

Malaccan: This is a half-past-six response from Nasrudin Hassan. He totally ignores that the same assessment and warning came earlier from PAS Youth chief Suhaizan Kaiat at the PAS Muktamar.

Was Nasrudin sleeping then? Or was he busy drafting Abdul Hadi Awang's closing speech? How can he compare Sarawak and Perak with Kelantan? Are the first two states strongholds of DAP?

Silly examples such as this expose Nasrudin's bankruptcy of arguments and his low intellect. Temerloh will be one seat where everyone must vote the same way. Get former MP Saifuddin Abdullah back in Parliament. He is far better for Malaysia even in Umno, than Nasrudin is in PAS.

It was a colossal mistake to put Nasrudin in Parliament but that is an error all will be happy to put right. Nasrudin is history unless he contests in a backwater Kelantan state seat in the next GE where he might end up in the state opposition.

Or he might as well go over to Umno or bring PAS into BN. This will save everyone the time and grief of listening to his drivel.

Jiminy Qrikert: It is all very well to reject the twisted logic of PAS politicians and rebut their nonsense, but we all need to be very clear come 2017.

The same pattern of good cop-bad cop will be played out again by PAS with ulamas playing to the Malay gallery on Islamic issues while the Erdogans will placate the non-Malays painting the impression that PAS is an all-inclusive party of moderation.

We all know that is a big fat lie. So come 2017, we will need to campaign vigorously against PAS by asking all PKR and DAP supporters to reject PAS through protest ballots. Place the ‘X’ against the moon.

There needs to be overwhelming condemnation of PAS to bury it in Selangor, the west coast states and East Malaysia. Teach it a lesson it will never ever forget.

Terjah: Nasrudin is lucky to win Temerloh parliamentary seat, of course with votes from non-Malays. Just a first-term MP, and he is talking as if he is a seasoned politician. Come this GE, I would not be surprise that he will run away seeking a safer constituency.

Please take note that PAS lost in Pengkalan Kubor in Kelantan where PAS is said to be its stronghold where PAS is the state government.

The reality is that even Kelantanese is fed up with PAS’ political antics. This man is just another ‘tok serban’ who has no place in multi-racial Malaysia.

Baiyuensheng: DAP will not make inroads into the Malay community without PAS. And without PAS, the road to Putrajaya will end.

The question is whether DAP can stay on course with its principles intact and forego power? I think DAP should fall back to its original role and avoid working with PAS which flip-flopped on its promises.

Anonymous_1371639972: I was saddened and disappointed that Saifuddin Abdullah was defeated as Temerloh MP in GE13. We must learn to keep good men in Parliament even though they are from Umno.

And keep divisive and abusive characters like Nasrudin out even if they are from PKR or PAS.  Remember one Zulkifli Noordin.
