YOURSAY   ‘Including dogs and they should be appreciated and loved.’

Ibrahim Ali hopping mad over dogs at Glasgow

Loveforpeace: Muslims don't hate dogs but avoid them for hygienic purposes. But sadly most of the ignorant Muslims hate dogs for no reason.

They just don't understand that avoiding is different from hating. Dogs are one of the God's many wonderful creatures. It should be appreciated and loved.

Odin: I keep dogs. I know a fair bit about the species. The uninitiated would be more than surprised at their extraordinary abilities and qualities.

They are capable of ESP. They can read your mind, for example, when you are about to move off after a rest, they not only know your intention, but they also know which direction you intend to progress.

The famous ‘dog whisperer’ Cesar Millan and those who have studied dogs can confirm what I have said.

Scottie knew he was not welcomed by certain members of the Malaysian contingent, and that was why he declined to do what was expected of him.

Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali, you are nothing compared to dogs. Nothing.

Abasir: "...the dog assigned to it refused to walk (in the opening ceremony of the 2014 Commonwealth Games). It was the only Scottie that had to be carried around the stadium."

The dog's sixth sense kicked in, I suppose, and decided to imitate some Malaysians who refuse to walk on their own feet and expect to be carried about. Smart dog.

Sirach: This really made my morning, especially the bit about the dog representing Malaysia refusing to walk. Maybe the poor creature was petrified of Ibrahim Ali’s wrath.

Seriously, I would have thought Ibrahim Ali would have sorted this out with the Queen during his recent London trip.

In any event, I suggest Ibrahim Ali writes to the canine-loving Queen expressing his aversion to dogs, etc. I'm sure Her Majesty would direct her third Under-Secretary to reply. Trouble is, she may reply to express her distinct aversion to Ibrahim Ali.

J Ng: I agreed that the organisers should have taken note on the used of dogs. It may be inappropriate to some Muslim countries.

However, Ibrahim Ali is no different when it comes to insensitivities. He is probably worst than them when he gave out 'ang pow' in white packets during CNY (Chinese New Year) two years ago.

Coming from Malaysia which is multiethnic, he is not only insensitive and insolent but also arrogantly dumb. As such, he has no right to talk about racial or religious insensitivities.

Dr Suresh Kumar: Ibrahim Ali is seeking cheap publicity to gain political mileage and most of the commentators in Malaysiakini are falling into his trap with their abusive language, cursing his race, looks and religion.

This is precisely what he wants to remain relevant in the context of Malaysian politics. He wants you to appear condescending and hostile toward the majority race so that he can appear as their defender and tell them how rude, racist and mean you people are.

Educated people are giving all the ammunition Ibrahim Ali and Umno need to pick you up so that they can continue the pilferage of the nation's coffer.

KB Menon: Malaysiakini does have an obsession with characters like Ibrahim Ali and those of the same ilk. Everything they say or do seems to get reported in this news portal.

Why, oh why, do you want to give them this publicity? As a Malaysiakini subscriber, I would like to request a news blackout on these unsavoury characters and their views. Simply put, they are not newsworthy.

Malaysiakini degrades itself by giving them space to vent their ranting here. I just renewed my subscription; now I wonder if I did the right thing.

Kamikasi: If Malaysiakini does not clarify these idiots’ remarks, the mainstream media will endorse their views and the Malaysian public will get a lopsided view of such events.

The only place Malaysians can show their anger and distaste is through the alternative media so they will know that a large section of the Malaysian public view them with contempt.

Sali Tambap: Even though dogs are animals but if well-trained, they can be very intelligent. They are loyal and can be very helpful creatures to humans.

It looks like Ibrahim Ali has something against dogs. I don't know much about Islam but I doubt it was meant to insult it but rather more of a show, like a circus, how animals can be trained which reflect well on the skill of the trainers.

Isn't this is what sports is all about - about skill and able to achieve incredible feat and endurance?

Voice: Did the Malaysian contingent file a protest before the opening ceremony. They should have walked out, boycotted the games and came back to Malaysia.

If they did not protest or have accepted it despite protest, then they should not have complained thereafter and Ibrahim Ali should not have barked at Scotland.

Bash: All are creatures of God. If Ibrahim and like-minded others like him wish to look for non-issues and problems, then forever they will live without peace. And what do religions teach us?
