Why look at crime though racial lens?
ADS

YOURSAY ‘If the police want to charge all road bullies, by all means do it.’

Kiki's conviction stirs racial sentiments

Malaccan: No one should take the law into their own hands.

If anyone bashes up a thief or purse snatcher, no matter how understandable, he should face the law too, just like the woman in the road rage video, Siti Fairrah Ashyikin Kamaruddin or Kiki.

This is not about race as always instigated by Umno-linked groups. They are hell-bent on provoking hatred and trying to trigger violence when the rest of Malaysia is working hard to avoid it and build a better tomorrow together.

Of course, some people may turn into vigilantes because they see crime rates rise and armed intruders come and go while the inspector-general of police is more concerned with what opposition politicians do and say.

Race-baiting and May 13 threats are never acceptable. It is criminal intimidation.

Even in Kiki's case, the victim from a different race but same nationality, spoke up for her. Malaysians must stop seeing things in race-tinged glasses even if Umno still does.

Gerard Lourdesamy: There should be no favouritism as far as enforcement of the law is concerned.

If the police are obstructed in carrying out their duties or are verbally abused, they should arrest the persons involved and charge them in court. Do not keep quiet or take a bribe and then bring up the issue later to score points.

The alleged robber should be charged in court and the person who attacked him after he was caught by members of the public should also be charged for assault. Why do we need to put a racial spin on everything?

Crimes are committed not only by Indians, but also Malays, Chinese and foreigners. We should not single out any one group, race or religion. The law must be applied equally to all.

Anon1 : If anyone feels a crime has been committed, report it.

And to Unit Media Baru blog - are you saying the failure of the police to investigate and act on a police report may result in another May 13? How stupid.

Yours and My Malaysia: Hello, this is not about racial hatred. This is a mindset that we have to deal with - the road bully mindset and it exists in all races. Have you not seen it frequently?

Traffic rules are flaunted and when you confront these culprits, they are aggressive and dangerous, be they Indians, Chinese, Malays or others. It is a disease.

Myop101: Road bullying is crime. If the police wants to charge all road bullies, by all means do it. I think it is important we can travel safely on the road without fear.

As for those attaching racial sentiments to it, they need to wake up and realise that road bullies exist in every community and nation.

Odysseus: The road rage video is a case of a young lady bullying an elderly man. Netizens do not condone road bullying. Hence it went viral. Please do not add other unnecessary and unrelated elements into this case.

However, if you know of any incident which you think warrant police attention, please lodge a police report. Then, leave it to the police to investigate and take necessary action.

Hafidz Baharom: I think netizens are biased in what crime they wish to highlight and what they see in any issue, not just the uncle kicking a kid, but also remember the bank personnel that got her head blown up?

There's a love to highlight stupidity at its best and unfortunately, Kiki took the cake this year after the ‘Listen, Listen, Listen’ video last year.

Rakyat-in-grief: It appears as though Malaysians have gone crazy. Anything happens in this country will immediately turned racial as if people have nothing else to think about.

Living with so low a mentality is shameful. Where is the end to this?

Anonymous #62211637: All wrong should not be condoned. If someone was unfair, take them to task but not the whole nation.

Ian2003: It was never racial in the first place. It was an issue of an angry youth bullying a weak old man.

Get real, it could very well be a Chinese girl and a Malay or Chinese or Indian old man and the result would still be the same and trending in the net.

Pputeh: It’s so pathetic, all things and actions are viewed through racial lenses. This is because the leaders have encouraged this to go on.

Look at Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma), Perkasa and other race-slanted NGOs like the army veterans assocociation. Now we have a former chief justice also getting onto the racial cart. God save this country.

Maplesyrup: Wrong is wrong. If we continue to look at everything by way of Malays, Chinese, Indian or other racial categories, then Malaysia is doomed.

Ask Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu) CEO Idris Jala to stop all his transformation work. Without racial harmony, Malaysia is nothing.

YUNoAnon: Only the extremist, racist people could have come up with this. The uncle didn't press charges, it was the police. So are you directing this threat to the police?
