MCA and PKR have both slammed Kedah PAS Youth leader Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman for his weird allegation that Allah may have struck down MH17 to force Malaysian Airlines to change its 'alcohol and uniforms' policy.

At least three MCA division leaders have issued statements questioning the PAS Youth leader’s wrong-footed remark while PKR Youth’s Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad chided his fellow Muslim for speaking out of turn.

MCA Youth Kedah publicity bureau chairperson Phee Kuan Joo fired off a long statement saying he was bewildered how Ahmad Tarmizi ( right ) would blur the difference between a man-made calamity and God's wrath.

"I believe that to the common man on the street, such statements will be viewed as an international laughing stock and even the world press can mistakenly assume Malaysians are so ignorant as to jump to such conclusions.

"We need to come out and correct Ahmad Tarmizi’s bizarre remark," Phee said in a press statement.

If indeed Ahmad Tarmizi was aiming at scoring political points with his remark, Phee urged him to think otherwise and instead to join other Malaysians to seek justice for the departed.

'View indicates inevitability of PAS' extremism'

He added that if this Youth leader represented the future of the Islamist party, then it was a worrying prospect.

"Considering that PAS Youth leaders will be the future successors of the PAS main body, the view uttered here indicate the inevitability of PAS’ extremism and education indoctrination methods," Phee said.

MCA Youth deputy secretary-general Tee Hooi Ling said Ahmad Tarmizi also insulted women, when he faulted the costume of the MAS stewardesses.

"It is people like him who create a negative perception towards Islam with his bigotry and biased attitude.

"Therefore, instead of constantly accusing MCA of insulting Islam, it is clear that it is PAS itself that is insulting Islam by demeaning women and using tragedies to justify its implementation of hudud," Tee said in a press statement.

Ahmad Tarmizi also earned a lashing from PKR's Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad ( left ), who urged his colleague in PAS to consider holding his tongue the next time.

"Even if we want to promote good and fight evil, do it with respect and properly, not when a big and shocking tragedy has just happened.

"There is a time and place for such things," the Seri Setia assemblyperson said in a statement.

Such careless remarks only create the wrong perception of Islam, which believes in a loving God, Nik Nazmi added.
