    • Pandelela - the darling of Sarawak
    • 9:16AM Aug 19, 2012
    • VOXPOP 'She talks just like my teenage daughter and she's the country's hottest athlete. Keep it up, Lela.'

Pandelela rejects blind date but accepts 'online proposal'

vox populi small thumbnailFairplayer: Dive queen Pandelela Rinong, I am glad to hear that your mom was your great motivator. I salute her!

May we see more moms coming out to be the force of the successes of their children. May dads be equally challenged as well. And may you inspire more young people to channel their energy and time in similar wholesome direction.

Hmmmmmmmm: It's so sad to hear that Pandelela's mother couldn't stay to watch the finals because of financial considerations. That would have been her proudest moment, I'm sure.

Sonea: She is so sweet, really! Maybe Malaysia Airlines (MAS) or AirAsia can make her dream of being a stewardess come true?

Anonymous #06659895: Pandelela, please help and motivate your people to struggle harder, especially in education and not being taken advantage of by people who have bad motives, such as ‘stealing' your native lands.

Keep close to your spiritual values and you won't go far wrong. Congratulations, Malaysians are proud of you.

Anonymous #75854042: Well done, Lela. Every Sarawakian loves you! Stay humble and continue to train hard. If possible, please reject any datukship given to you as an honour for your Olympic achievement.

Tell them to keep it for you until you are 30 years old when you retire from competitive diving. Now that you are a winner, all the VVIPs will praise you. But should you lose the next time, they will curse and ignore you.

Just be who you are. All Malaysians, particularly Sarawakians, are proud of you. You are the darling of Sarawak.

FellowMalaysian: She talks just like my teenage daughter and she's the country's hottest athlete. Keep it up, Lela.

Anonymous_5fb: Lela, you are a girl any father would like his daughter to be - jovial, humble and simple.

MCA firm against hudud, avoids Umno-PAS squabble

Malaysian Overseas: MCA chief Dr Chua Soi Lek said, "I will not talk on something that I don't understand. That is something unfair."

Yet, he claims to oppose hudud? Get your facts right first before you open your mouth. Is this is the kind of quality we have for a MCA president?

Ramachandran Muniandy: Chua, can you tell me what PAS hudud and Umno hudud are? Is it that with Umno hudud, corruption, cheating, murder, lies and rape is okay?

Anonymous #15167679: Hudud is hudud, and there is no two ways about it as I, a non-Muslim, understand it.

Why must we understand hudud as a ‘PAS hudud' or ‘Umno hudud', etc? MCA, you are not only irrelevant but being headed by a tainted chief who is just not making the Chinese angry but also Malay-Muslims angry.

DesiKhan: Chua barks and has nothing better to talk about other than hudud. Why don't you talk instead about crime in Malaysia today and what action the government should take?

P Dev Anand Pillai: If the police do not buck up, the best resort may be to introduce hudud. If we have to cut the hands of those who steal, rob, rape and murder, perhaps only then will they learn.

From what we see now, the criminals are not afraid of the police. The police are busy politicking and supervising suicides in their lock-ups.

Bersih: 'Explain conflicting directives during rally'

Jkthum: Yes, a thorough investigation needs to be carried out as to who in the police force gave the second orders to beat up Bersih 3.0 rally participants.

And who are those police officers whom dressed as Bersih participants and what was their intention. Pictures of some of these officers in both yellow shirt and police attire have been taken but until now, none has been identified.

These errant cops should be brought to justice and their superiors (who ordered them to do what they did) must also be brought to justice.

Bumiasli: Malaysians are unlucky to have irresponsible ministers running some very important ministries. To run a country, politicians need intelligence, experience, empathy or humanity and loyalty.

Unfortunately, some of our ministers do not even know the meaning of such values, let alone practise them. On the contrary, they are unethical in their approach and lack love for the country and its people.

Why did the police need tear gas for a peaceful gathering? What was the necessity to hurt or beat up a crowd comprising of senior citizens and children? Yes, Bersih co-ordinator S Ambiga is right, they need to explain their deeds.

AkuMelayuIslam: As a Muslim, I'm ashamed at my fellow Muslim brothers in the police force who beat up their fellow Muslim brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers... Are they Muslim?
