‘It’s a heartache’ best fits Umno AGM antics

It’s a heartache

Nothing but a heartache

Hits you when it’s too late

Hits you when you’re down

It’s a fool’s game

Nothing but a fools game

Standing in the cold rain

Feeling like a clown

It’s a heartache

Nothing but a heartache

Love him til your arms break

Then he lets you down

It ain’t right with love to share

When you find he doesn't care for you

It ain’t wise to need someone

As much as I depended on you

[Chorus]

It’s a fool’s game

Nothing but a fools game

Standing in the cold rain

Feeling like a clown

[Chorus]

Songwriters: Ronnie Scott & Steve Wolfe

For a political party that proudly claims to be the longest surviving entity in the world of political rule, its members (and leaders particularly) seem to be stooping far too low.

One would expect that after decades of rule and in this fast-transforming new millennium, our politicians would have also matured commensurate with knowledge capital and better emotional intelligence quotient (EQ).

But all we hear are threats - and more threats, against a particular race and claims of insults that are being heaped against one religion.

The entire strategy appears far too obvious and indeed it is all about nothing more than a terrible heartache.

Singnalling an imminent cardiac arrest?

And that ‘heartache’ could well signal an imminent cardiac arrest for the nation if left unattended.

Surely our neighboring nations and their leaders must also be wondering how on earth is Malaysia going to ride the waves of changes hitting the shores of Asean member nations.

Yes, we may throw caution to the winds because we have the honey jar to keep dipping in. But what and when we wake up one day, someday soon, to find that our oil reserves cannot earn much with dipping world oil prices and our oil palm cannot match other countries’ output?

A superior political party would on the other hand have sound leadership. A party with sound leadership will be an inspiration - above race and religion, giving even opponents every reason to salute them.

But sadly, ‘It’s a heartache. Nothing but a heartache. Love him (Umno and its leaders) till your (citizens’) arms break. Then he (Umno) lets you down.’

Let us face the reality. Malaysia is being poisoned and riddled with divisiveness by our politicians. Will we as a nation of people then survive the future?

If Hitler were alive today, he would probably have seen it as a perfect timing to gun this country when it is at its weakest, given all the race and religion-bashing gone high-gear.
